Apply to WWES

Rolling admissions. No waiting for a new term. Most students qualify for full scholarship. The application is a conversation — not a bureaucratic hurdle.

We train those already in ministry.

WWES was built for Christian leaders, pastors, teachers, church planters, and elders who are already engaged in ministry and want to deepen their biblical and theological foundation — without leaving their congregations, families, or livelihoods.

Good fit for WWES
  • Active pastor or church leader
  • Bible school or seminary teacher
  • Church planter or missionary
  • Active lay leader in local church
  • Denominational or mission officer
  • Anyone serving God's Kingdom bi-vocationally
  • Anyone who can read and write in English (even if it's your second language)
May not be a fit
  • Those with no active connection to a local church or ministry
  • Those seeking a credential primarily for professional prestige rather than ministry formation
  • Those who cannot commit to genuine study and reflection
  • Those who would submit AI-generated work as their own

Our admission process is individual — we evaluate every application personally. If you're not sure whether you qualify, send us an email and we'll tell you honestly.

Requirements by program track

All applicants are evaluated on three criteria: English ability (reading and writing at a functional level — near-native is not required), ministry engagement (active role in a local church or ministry), and academic background (varies by program level).

First Certificate / Diploma / BTh track

18 – 90 credits · Undergraduate

Ministry

No specific requirements. You must be an active, confessing Christian.

Academic

No specific requirements. You must be able to study in English.

Second Bachelor (2nd BA)

30 credits · Undergraduate (direct entry)

Ministry

Professional teacher in a Bible school or seminary; OR officer in a denominational or mission agency; OR practicing full-time or bi-vocational pastor; OR active pastoral lay leader. A Ministry Mentor is required.

Academic

At least two years of higher-level study (undergraduate, college, or vocational); OR equivalent competency demonstrated through apprenticeship or long ministry experience.

Master of Arts (48 credits)

48 credits · Graduate

Ministry

Professional teacher in a Bible school or seminary; OR officer in a denominational or mission agency; OR practicing full-time or bi-vocational pastor; OR active pastoral leader.

Academic

Two-year or longer undergraduate degree in a relevant biblical-theological field; OR our own Certificate or 2nd BA degree.

Extended Master of Arts (60 credits)

60 credits · Graduate (secular background)

Ministry

Same as MA above.

Academic

Any bachelor-level undergraduate degree. Five preparatory courses must be completed with B+ or above before beginning graduate-level coursework.

Auto-progression: acceptance to the Certificate program automatically makes you eligible to continue to the Diploma and BTh. Completing BTh coursework makes you automatically eligible to apply for the MA. You apply once; the pathway opens as you progress.

A lack of financial resources should not be an obstacle to learning God's Word.

Global Justice Scholarship

Covers 100% of tuition

WWES is a faith mission. Because people around the world contribute their time and money to support this mission, we are able to offer full scholarship to qualifying leaders. This is the normal situation for the majority of our students.

You qualify if all of the following apply:

  • You are a practicing teacher, denominational leader, or key ministry person
  • You live and work in a country with GDP (PPP) below $10,000 per capita
  • You can document that your actual financial situation is limited
  • You can explain how your church or ministry will benefit from your studies

Not sure if your country qualifies? Email us — we'll tell you. For countries with moderate purchasing power, a partial scholarship (registration fee waiver) may apply even when the full scholarship does not.

The honest fee picture

Nominal fees exist for those who are not on scholarship. The vast majority of WWES students pay nothing. Here is the full structure for reference:

ProgramRegistrationTuition
1st Certificate$200$1,375
Diploma / 2nd BA$300$2,250
MA / Extended MA$500$4,080

Tuition rate: $75/credit undergraduate, $85/credit graduate. Internship credits are not charged.

Credentials: digital is free

Graduates on full scholarship receive a digital diploma and official transcript at no cost. Physical printed degree documents with a seal are available on a cost-recovery basis. No student on full scholarship will be denied a dignified credential because they cannot pay for shipping.

Four steps. No waiting.

We have rolling admissions. There is no term start date to wait for — once you are accepted, you begin. The process is a genuine conversation, not a bureaucratic filter.

Quick answers

Do I have to speak perfect English?
No. WWES is designed for students for whom English is a second or third language. You need to be able to read the textbooks (which are written accessibly) and write well enough that your thinking comes through. Your application email itself is our first measure of this — write it in your own words.
When does the next term start?
Anytime. We have four terms per year (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer), but enrollment is rolling. Once accepted, you begin with the Orientation course immediately. There is no "wait until September."
How many courses can I take at once?
As many as your life allows. Some students take one course per term and work steadily. Others take three or four at once. We have no minimum load requirement. Sabbaticals are fine — you can pause and return to the same courses.
Are WWES degrees recognised by other institutions?
WWES is a not-for-profit educational society registered in Nova Scotia, Canada. Our standards are equivalent to similar institutions in North America and Europe. Degrees are signed by qualified professors with academic credentials in accredited institutions. Recognition by specific governments or denominations varies by context — contact us if you need a formal letter of explanation for your context.
Can I study through a local branch instead of online?
Yes. If there is a WWES branch in your region, you can study through them — the curriculum and credentials are identical. See the Branches page for a list of partners and their contact details.
What is the AI policy?
Submitting AI-generated text as your own work is academic dishonesty at WWES and will result in account suspension. The rationale is simple: if AI writes your theology, it is no longer your theology. Grammar checkers and bibliography tools are fine. AI-generated essays and forum posts are not.
I studied at WWES years ago and stopped. Can I return?
Yes. Email the office at office@evangelicalseminary.net with your name and the email you studied under, and we will restore your access. There is no penalty for a gap in studies.
